This is Alba our Baby Black Barn Owl.... Enjoying her first Bath in her New Aviary...

She has settled is great with Marmalade our Common Barn Owl taking a Special Fancy to Her..... You can see in the picture below Marmalade getting very close to her.....

Black Barn owls in the Wild are born with a Rare Genetic Condition that make their Feathers Jet Black... The condition is called Melanism, a 100,000 to one Gene Mutation that makes them the exact opposite to Albino.

These Birds are usually killed at birth by their confused mothers....

Our Baby Black Barn Owl was born in Captivity in Belgium where both her parents are Jet Black.
